5 Signs You are Workaholic

Dissatisfied with your life already? Looking stressed out and you felt like you have no time grooming yourself up. Somehow you’re wondering your life is no longer fulfilling because you’ve become tied up with your work. May be the needs from your work. Too much work kills you yet less may not. As a Davaoeño, you work hard even though the pay is low or moderate. Since the world economy today is riding like a coaster. You have no choice but to work. May be its time to look back from things were you are less stressed from bottom to top.

Here are signs you are workaholic:

5. Coffee in a Table

They say coffee is what keeps you on the table. Yes, its been proven that coffee can make you be on focused on your work. It increases your time span for productivity yet its the common cause for lack of sleep, high blood pressure, heart problems and etc. Longer hours at work can make you fat specially when you crave for food. The more you crave for coffee the more sugar you intake. The higher chance you are inclined to diabetes which is one of the leading cause of deaths tolled per year in Davao alone.

It would indicate that when you have a coffee your table you are dedicated to your work. And you don’t want to leave your work hanging because you badly need money to aid your financial needs.

Nega Effect:

The downside of it. It creates clotting on your brain due to cholesterol and sugar also in several parts of your body. Chances of stroke are high.  Instead it makes you unproductive because you are now tied up to your work.

Best do:

Keep your lifestyle healthy. Do a lot of exercise. It aids social interaction for your daily living. Less stress and hassle.

4. Phone on the Side Pocket

You can’t get rid of your phone just one second. Even at school and else where you can’t let go of your phone. To you, its important to keep in touch the people who are close to you. But this causes you a lot of stress. It makes you frantic about things. Panicky in a way you are tied up with your phone. You can’t let go of your device even just a second.

Mobile devices keeps you preoccupied from time to time. This causes you to forget of yourself.

Nega Effect:

It makes you paranoid not watching text messages or get on hold of important calls or nonsense calls. It keeps you from reality. Eventually it made your worst person. You always talk to your boss even on weekends just to keep you updated with your project.

You are now officially obsessed with work.

Best do:

Leave you phone and try not to look at it. Don’t think of work to often it really its up your time just being with your phone.

3. Technical Conversation

Its not only IT professionals who are inclined in talking technical stuff. People who loves to work more often. They are prone to psychologically thinking that these people are okay. Sad to say but ‘No’. You are identified as workaholic when you talk about work while having party or bar hopping. Even at your own birthday you talk about work. Worse when other people are slowly avoiding because you are always mindful of your work from office.

Nega Effect:

It’s making you ANTI SOCIAL. Your becoming a psychopath yourself because of your obsession of your work.

Best do:

Avoid talking about work while on parties or holidays. It stresses you more because you are now married to your work. Don’t take your seriously, take it seriously when you’re passionate about your work. When you are on a happy environment, a work that has a positive output for you.

2. Scheduler on Your Possession

You take your scheduler with you anywhere you go. You can’t leave it alone. You can’t go outside without a scheduler. Clearly you are workaholic. It’s a clear indication you can’t leave your meetings behind your back even a day or so.

Nega Effect:

It’s annoying. It becomes your personal obsession to hold on to your schedule just because you don’t want to miss the action or so..

Best do:

Leave it! You must do it. Leave it behind for a day. Free yourself from work. It will only kill you slowly.

1. Late Hours at Work

An individual must take at least 8-12 hrs of sleep which is an average time to rest and sleep (unfortunately for me, I will not sleep or rest unless I have some articles done). We stick up to the rule. We are the last to go home. You can’t go home because you have so many things in mind about work.

Nega Effect:

May be its really a nightmare for you not to work late isn’t it?

Best do:

Make up of your work the next day. You should adjust your schedule and enable yourself to let go of stress and work.

That would be it for now. At least you know you are aware that being workaholic gives you negative output in your daily living. Lately you’re becoming unproductive because you used up your energy for any activity related to work.

Well have yourself a coffee or tea and take a break. It’s time to break up with workaholism and start to freshen up your life. Make it brighter and healthier for you. Think positively. Ok?
