Common Typographical Error

Who would have thought that we [Filipinos], as part of our culture, ignore typical errors and typo errors? It could be either verbal or written. And we’re known for doing it repeatedly causing awareness for researchers and observers to learn from our own mistakes out of what we say or think. We began to think of it as habit not correcting mistakes and figures that we should be aware of. Laughing of other peoples mistakes or laughing at our own mistake makes it more absurd. Some might think its a lunatic idea but its not.

Even in the industry of media, its already a part of a our culture to make comedic story lines that are funny, plain and corny yet funny jokes and, probably considering errors funny. In advertising, they are making errors (verbal or nonverbal) as serious, addressing to the public in layman’s term but absurd,

As part of our culture we’re known to be funny, cunning and joker type of people because of our attitude as friendly and social interactive.

Sample works known errors typically found are:

1. “Lasgana”

A word that should be “Lasagna” but instead written in a wrong manner. It happened that my friends and I found this one during our seminar in a hotel (which I will not name it).

2. “Lunts Brek”

It kept repeating on my head for several days as if played by a DJ on the radio until I hear it again. I heard this wrongly pronounced by a security guard.

3. Jejemon

Jejemon is a term used to call a person or an idea that makes an idea overly exaggerated  as popularly used by people who’s expression is through combining alphanumeric capitalized (well maybe consider multiple mixed words). But the idea started, when people wanted to explore the word “creativity” on their own ways. Although its really degrading for people who aren’t used to using jejemon language because some professionals refer to it as downgrading (at least I may express it that way). It doesn’t have an exact point at all. For as long as it expresses an idea then that would be it.

Question is.. would you care about this?

My answer is YES. Well, it affects our culture, standard (as a person), it doesn’t promote proper education and it really gives a huge impact to those who are educated. It was lately that I observed that no one is using jejemon as their status in Facebook. May be the era of Jejemon is long lost and no longer recognized. Fortunately its safe for people who aren’t practicing.

4.  Shortened Text Messages

Majority of us are using tech gadgets, phones and other means of mobile devices due to its demand for using it as a basic need for communication.  Using words shortened words on text messages is fine. For the sake of texting, but never use it oftentimes. Some people isn’t conscious about it. It affects writing and non-writing skills when a person is used to it already.  A word of advice, practice independence from other people. Improve your lifestyle by striving into correcting your mistakes to avoid mishap.

5. Shortcut Words

Even writers, reporters, journalists and other known profession who are conscious of their literary works should not violate the code of ethics in producing simple typographic errors. Whether it is verbal or nonverbal (written). Simply because as part of the media 0r growing society, we should educate people in the right manner.

These are just part of the common mistake we just have to face daily. Although we might want to correct them. The way we perceive, communicate and write them can affect our lives. It affects our career, personality and the people around us but I’m not saying that I’m right and your idea is wrong. Depending on how you would perceive this realization. Try to look up on your mistakes and correct them.

It will improve your life as well as correcting mistakes will make you a better person.

Young Lara

Looking at this picture reminds me of how old we are getting. Nobody’s complaining that we are getting younger but we just have to take care of our own youthfulness. Well, this photo reminded me of the days when me, Nezza (my cousin) and Ate Ay2x (cousin), how young we really are before. Its the 1996 and who would have thought how time flies extremely fast. I will really miss our bonding moments together.
